CHILDREN’S CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
CREATIVE MODEL

This year the theme of our Children’s Christian Education Curriculum, under the direction of Pastor Roxie, is “Heroes of the Bible.” These are ordinary people whom God has used in extraordinary ways. We will work with a time line of the Bible and learn the books of the Bible and five Biblical Heroes in chronological order. The heroes are Abraham, Moses, King David, Prophet Daniel and Jesus. In October we studied Abraham and in November we are studying Moses. We will spend time with Baby Jesus in December, learning the different names of Jesus used in the Christmas story. In January we will go back to Moses, followed by King David in February. Since Easter comes in March we will again look at Jesus, the man who was crucified and rose from the dead. April will be our month to get to know the Prophet Daniel and in May we will learn about the miracles and ministry of Jesus. Hebrews 12:1 summarizes what we are trying to accomplish this year: “We have around us many people whose lives tell us what faith means.” (New Century Translation).

All of our children/youth from Preschool through the Senior Highs are learning about each Hero each month. The curriculum is age appropriate for each grade. But we are all studying the same stories so that families can talk together as to what they are learning about God’s people. Children, K through 5th grades, have two opportunities to learn the Biblical lessons: Sunday morning in Sunday School and on Wednesdays evenings in FROG Pond and LILY Pad adventures. Remember, we only have your children for a very short time during the week. So learn along with your children. You are your child’s most important teacher. We are all in this together!
