STUDY ON THE GOSPEL OF JOHN Even though this study has been going on for several weeks, it is class that you can join anytime. The reason for this openness is twofold: the Gospel of John is timeless and it is a great book to know Jesus better, no matter where you enter its text. And the leadership for this class is very welcoming. The participants love to have others join them. Please prayerfully consider joining this class for the enrichment of your faith, as it is lived every day of your life. The Gospel of John is studied every Sunday morning at two separate times: from 9:00 to 10:00 and from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. The class is located in B04 downstairs in the basement. Jim and Terry Capen teach the first class and Chris and Michele Kirkum teach the second class. There is a workbook that goes along with the class ($8.00 or courtesy of the Christian Education Committee). The 9:00 class is designed for those people who would like to come early to study before going to worship at the Traditional Worship Service (10:15 a.m.). The 10:15 class is perfect for people attending the new Morning Glory Worship at 9:00 a.m. or for parents who are waiting for their children to finish Sunday School. BIBLE 301 (AN IN-DEPTH STUDY OF THREE GOSPELS) If you are interested in knowing more about the life of Jesus, the people He met, the people He healed, the miracles He did, the parables He spoke, this is the class for you. This will be an overview of three gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke. You will learn how each gospel relates to the other; for whom the gospel was written; when it was written and what impact it had on its readers, both then and now. This class will meet from 7:00 to 8:15 p.m. each Wednesday, starting April 2nd concluding on April 30th,The class is designed for those who don’t know a lot about these three gospels or who would like to brush up on what they do know. It is not appropriate for those who are Biblically astute or Biblical scholars. Pastor Roxie will teach basic Biblical knowledge in this class. Please note that the Gospel of John is not covered in this course. A perfect learning scheme would be to participate in the Gospel of John class on Sunday mornings and this class on Wednesday evening. (If you are a parent and would like this class during the time that your children are in the Wednesday Evening Program, please let Pastor Roxie know and arrangements will be made). MUNCH BUNCH (WOMEN’S WEEKLY BIBLE STUDY This Women’s Bible Study is studying the Book of Hebrews in the New Testament. Hebrews is an amazing book of faith. As it says in the introduction to the study, “Together we will study this marvelous portrait of Jesus Christ…We will be encouraged and reassured that Jesus is truly the way, the truth, and the life…The author of Hebrews emphasizes that Jesus is superior to the prophets and angels.” During this study, you will not only have the opportunity to munch on some good snacks but you will have a great time digesting the wonderful spiritual morsels of the Book of Hebrews. The Munch Bunch group meets every Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. in the Parlor and they are saving a seat for you! HORIZON BIBLE STUDY FOR WOMEN The Horizon Bible Study group resumes this month on Wednesday, March 19th, 10:00 a.m. when they begin studying the Book of Ruth. Did you know that Ruth is one of the women who is listed in the line of Jesus? (Check it out in the Book of Matthew). Did you know that Ruth was a Moabite who was accepted into the family of the Israelites. (Check it out at the beginning of the Book of Ruth). Ruth is the one who said to Naomi (her mother-in-law), “Where you go, I will go; where you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people; and your God, my God.” (a Bible verse that is often quoted at weddings). Make it a priority in your life to get into the Bible. Come to Horizon Bible study every third Wednesday of the month. See you on March 19th! "FIRST LIGHT” SMALL GROUP BIBLE STUDY Jeff and Mary Anderson are planning to start a new small group Bible study (First light). Would you be interested in joining them? They hope to meet every other Friday night, rotating the host home from within the small group. Child care is a must for Jeff and Mary, but don’t feel limited to joining them if you don’t have children. How child care will be handled will be figured out in time. This small group is just in the beginning stages and there are still some things to be figured out, including the exploration of the topic of study. If you are interested, please give Jeff and Mary a call at the number listed in the church directory.
